Modelling of inaccessible architectural and structural features can now be surveyed accurately, quickly and remotely by 3D laser scanning.

Building Laser Scanned

Operation:

  • Scanner camera takes an initial snapshot of scene and picture sent to laptop.
  • Operator selects desired area of scan and measurement spacing (accuracy).
  • Scanner measures with narrow laser pulses across the scene.
  • 800 points per second are taken up to a distance of 100m with spacing as fine as 0.5mm.
  • Calculations undertaken by ‘time of flight’ method of each pulse from surface to returning to scanner.
  • Scan provides a real time 3 dimensional ‘cloud’ which can be interrogated and viewed in 3D.
  • Cloud can be output directly to AutoCAD
