Glanville has established an impressive reputation with its clients for the quality of its service and this leads to a large amount of repeat work and an expanding workload. Glanville’s success is a product of a relaxed, friendly and co-operative working environment. This allows our staff to develop their skills and confidence when dealing with clients.

As part of our multi-disciplinary service Glanville undertakes varied roles on a variety of projects. Refer to our company brochure or web site to find out more.

Career Development

As a multi-disciplinary company with varied projects and a variety of clients there are many opportunities for staff to explore areas of work that hold a particular interest to them or to take a broader role in a variety of projects.

As a medium size company, Glanville is able to maintain a flexible approach to its team and management structures, which is often not possible in larger organisations. Glanville’s directors maintain a close involvement in projects and staff management and are always looking to develop each member of staff to their full potential.

Employees are encouraged to build good working relationships with clients and professionals from other companies. Developing contacts is good for business and career development and employees are always welcome to offer marketing ideas and to attend company-promotional events.

Local Living

Glanville’s Didcot office is conveniently located a short walk from the town centre and mainline railway station. Didcot lies approximately 15 miles from Oxford and 20 miles from Reading and offers excellent rail and road links to Central London and other UK destinations.

Didcot has varied local facilities including sports centres, a swimming pool and parks and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, close to the River Thames, Berkshire Downs, Chiltern Hills and Vale of the White Horse.

Recently opened within the town centre is The Orchard Centre, which offers many High Street stores, including Woolworths, Argos and Next. The development also includes a multi-screen cinema due to open by Easter 2007.

Didcot offers a variety of residential properties available for purchase or rent, these include modern new housing developments and also period character properties available in the older parts of the town. Good transport links to Oxford, Newbury, Reading and Swindon allow easy commuting from these nearby towns.

Professional Development

Glanville recognises that successful employees are crucial to a successful business and so puts a considerable effort into the professional development of employees.

The first step to professional development is to create a productive working and learning environment within the office. This is achieved through discussion and appraisal of employee needs and organisation of teams to create learning opportunities.

Glanville provides more formal training through its accreditation with the Institution of Civil Engineers. Training under Agreement is provided for Chartered and Incorporated status and Glanville usually has several graduates under training at any time. Glanville also provides training for IstructE exams and reimburses one professional membership annual subscription per employee. Training for numerous other exams is provided where appropriate, as is assistance with distance learning and evening courses, day release courses and short training courses.

Close links are maintained with several professional institutions in order that employees can benefit from evening meetings, site visits, conferences and seminars. Lunchtime seminars are regularly arranged at our offices for industry specialists to provide CPD training with free lunch provided.
