Glanville’s laser scanning technology was featured on the front page of ‘Insight’ magazine’s July 2007 issue, published by the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing.
Laser Scanning is a relatively new surveying technology which Glanville Consultants have embraced to enable high levels of accurate three-dimensional data to be captured in minutes and utilised for a wide variety of structures and projects within the construction industry.

The technology permits large complex structures to be scanned remotely from distances up to 100 metres with 5000 discrete data points captured every second.
Complete surface geometry can be observed within minutes and graphically displayed on a laptop onsite as an accurate 3D “point cloud”. This can be immediately analysed or registered to further scans.

Data can be provided as 2D drawings, 3D models, rendered models, meshes, animations & flythroughs.
The benefits include remote observations, high volumes of data recorded in a short space of time and 3D coverage of all visible data to millimetre accuracy.
Glanville has used the technology for mapping of London Underground platforms, National Trust properties, archaeology sites, high-rise tower blocks, sub-stations, pylons, process plants, listed buildings and bridges.
