Glanville
has staff experienced in conducting
independent Road Safety Audits. Our audit teams
have been accepted by the Highways Agency for
audits of road schemes involving the motorway and
trunk road network and have undertaken audits on
a wide range of improvement schemes on local
authority roads. In addition to new road alignments
and revised junction layouts, these have also
included cycle and pedestrian infrastructure
enhancements, home zones and traffic
management schemes.

The Road Safety Audit process is intended to
reduce the possibility of road accidents on new
road schemes and enables Highway Authorities to
meet the statutory duty placed upon them in this
respect. Independent Road Safety Audits are now
an integral part of highway planning, design,
construction and maintenance. The process is
concerned only with matters of road safety and is
distinct from the design check process that
considers wider technical issues. Whilst technical
design standards do consider safety, they do not
always take account of the combined safety
aspects of all the individual elements of a complete
scheme as is done by an independent Road Safety
Audit.
